Directed by the man responsible for the "making of" documentaries that accompany Michael Haneke's DVDs, this portrait of the severe Austrian film-maker is of interest for the comments by his actors, the chance to see him at work on Amour (especially the husband's nightmare sequence), Code Unknown and The White Ribbon, and his occasional guarded revelations. Jean-Louis Trintignant remarks that Haneke has more fun on the set than the actors do. Isabelle Huppert thinks his humour is particularly Austrian and compares him with Bergman. Haneke tells the director: "I don't want to answer questions that make me interpret myself."
